Tannum Sands sits just south of Gladstone on the Central Queensland coast, fronting the Coral Sea, and offers water temperatures that stay fairly mild through the year. In summer, from around December to March, sea temperatures are usually in the 25–27 °C range, making the water comfortable for regular swimming even on hot, humid days. During winter, typically June to August, temperatures drop to about 19–21 °C, which can feel a little cool at first but is still suitable for a swim on sunny, calm days. Spring and autumn are often the most pleasant, with water temperatures commonly sitting between 22–24 °C and more stable weather.
