Malabar sits on Sydney’s south-eastern edge, facing the open Tasman Sea with a long, gently curving beach and fewer crowds than many central city spots. Water temperatures here follow the familiar Sydney coastal pattern. In summer, from December through March, the sea is usually at its warmest, around 21–24 °C, making conditions comfortable for regular swimming. Autumn brings a slow cool-down to roughly 19–21 °C. Winter is the coldest season, with water temperatures typically between 16–18 °C, while spring sees a gradual rise back into the 18–20 °C range as ocean and air temperatures lift.
