Cape Arid lies along the remote south-eastern coast of Western Australia, where the Great Australian Bight meets long, windswept beaches and clear southern waters. Sea temperatures here stay cool for most of the year. In summer, typically from December to February, the water is usually around 18–21°C, which can feel surprisingly pleasant on calm days. Autumn cools gently to about 16–18°C, while winter is noticeably colder, often sitting between 13–15°C. Spring sees a gradual rise again, generally around 15–17°C, though chilly southerly winds can make the water feel cooler than the thermometer suggests.
