West Beach is one of Esperance’s more exposed ocean beaches, facing directly into the Great Australian Bight and known for its open horizon and steady southern energy. Water temperatures follow the typical pattern for the far south of Western Australia. During summer, from December to February, the sea generally sits around 18–22°C, which feels comfortable on warm, calm days. Autumn cools gradually to about 16–19°C, while winter is noticeably colder, most often around 13–15°C. In spring, temperatures begin to rise again, usually reaching 15–17°C, though cool winds can keep the water feeling fresh.
