Wurtulla sits on the southern end of the Sunshine Coast, facing the Coral Sea, and enjoys water temperatures that make swimming possible for much of the year. In summer, from around December to March, the sea is typically between 24 and 26 °C, giving the water a warm, comfortable feel that suits longer swims. During winter, usually June to August, temperatures drop to around 19–21 °C, which can feel brisk at first but is still quite manageable on sunny days. Spring and autumn often provide the most balanced conditions, with water temperatures commonly sitting between 21–23 °C and lighter coastal winds.
